K-REV’s roaming reporter Ann calls in with the latest answers.

(K-REV Announcer Kyle seated at an angled table, stage-left. with a microphone on the table.  Kyle is wearing large headphones covering his ears.  Ann walks out in front of the stage holding a K-REV microphone; she also has an earpiece in one ear, with a wire trailing out down to an electronic unit strapped to her belt.)

KYLE
You’re listening to the All-new Digital Family-friendly Christian Radio Network K-REV.
Today we have a special treat for you.  K-REV’s roaming reporter-ette Ann is on location at the Shadow Valley Shopping Mall.  Ann, are you there?

ANN
Yes, Kyle, we’re broadcasting live.  And, here we have our first “inner man on the street” interviewee.  Sir, you said your name is Rosco?

(Rosco steps closer to Ann as she points the microphone toward him.)

ROSCO
Yes.

ANN
We’re asking two inner man questions today.  How do you take care of your inner person? And, What do you tell yourself every morning when you start your day?

ROSCO
(grabs the microphone from Ann) Good Morning! My name is Bill Rosco.   Got a research question today?  Call the the Rosco Ready Reference Center!  We’ll answer any question you have! One call, that’s all!  Call 1-866-R-O-S-C—

(Ann grabs the microphone back, and abruptly turns away from Rosco.)

ANN
Oh…wow…well, okay!  That’s the risk of doing live radio.

KYLE
That’s so true--you never know what you’re going to get.  But, this is fun.  Ann, are there any others?

ANN
Yes, Kyle.  We have…what’s your name again?

(Maddie steps closer to Ann.)

MADDIE
Maddie.  My name is Maddie.

ANN
Hi Maddie!  It’s good to meet you.  We’re out here today asking two questions about the inner person.  Is that okay?

MADDIE
Yes.

ANN
Okay:  How do you take care of your inner person? And, What do you tell yourself every morning when you start your day?

MADDIE
I try to pray every day.  I know that talking with Jesus every day is a good thing for my spirit—my real inner self.  And—

NOLAN
(steps forward and interrupts Maddie) She reads the Bible out loud to me every night.

MADDIE
Oh, Nolan, why did you say that?  I didn’t want to brag about it.  (sighs) A mother’s labor is never done.

NOLAN
No Mom, tell the truth.  You help me go to sleep every night.  I love those stories.

MADDIE
Well, it’s true.  I find that reading God’s Word helps build our faith and keep us strong for Jesus.

ANN
How do you pray?

MADDIE
I am thankful to God for everything.  First, I thank God for all my blessings, especially Nolan.

NOLAN
Mom always says, Counting blessings is always good math.

MADDIE
There he goes again, tellin’ on me.

ANN
This is wonderful.  Okay Maddie, what about in the morning?  What do you tell yourself every morning when you start your day?

MADDIE
Every morning after I pray, I put on the whole armor of God, because I—

NOLAN
(interrupts Maddie) never know what I am going to face that day.   Oh, Mom has another saying, too!

MADDIE
No-leeee—

NOLAN
She says, When  life is like a storm in a teacup, it’s time to make tea.

ANN
That’s cool, I like that one!  Thank you Maddie; thank you Nolan.  You’ve both been great.  Kyle, how about you?

(Maddie and Nolan exit)

KYLE
What do I tell myself every morning when I start my day?   That’s easy.  My grandpa told my dad this all the time and, of course, my dad passed it on to me.  Are you sure you wanna hear it?

ANN
(giggles)  Yes Kyle, go ahead.

KYLE
Okay, here goes…  You do what you can with what you got.

ANN
(giggles again)  Wow Kyle!  Words to live by.   How does that help you take care of your inner person?

KYLE
It motivates me to keep working for the kingdom of God, every day.  It goes along with another thing I learned from my dad:  There’s always something to do.  When I find myself with a little “extra time” I find something positive to do, then do it.

ANN
Okay Kyle, it’s time to do something positive.

KYLE
What’s that?

ANN
Run the commercial.

KYLE
(laughs out loud) Very funny.
