Network K-REV.
ASHLEY
Hello?
K-REV
Go ahead. Ashley?
ASHLEY
Yes—
K-REV
Go ahead, you’re on the air--
ASHLEY
Oh, I just wanted to call and ask you to pray for me… for peace. I need peace.
And wanted to tell you…
(starts to cry)
K-REV
Our Father, I pray for Ashley right now. Please be the Prince of Peace she so
desperately needs right now.
ASHLEY
(sniffles, and stops crying) Thank you so much.
K-REV
How else can we help you today, Ashley?
ASHLEY
I wanted to tell you how God used your ministry today.
K-REV
Tell us--
ASHLEY
The song you played about an hour ago really, really touched my heart. See,
I’ve been goin’ through an awful time at home and at school and my friends all
hate me—I’ve been so down lately.
K-REV
It’s okay, it’s okay—
ASHLEY
And that song…that song just touched my heart. It was like God spoke to me
directly.
K-REV
I have a scripture for you from the Bible—is that okay?
ASHLEY
Yes.
K-REV
This is Psalm 40, verses 1 through 3 from the New Living Translation--
I waited patiently for the Lord to help me,
and he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along.
He has given me a new song to sing,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what he has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the Lord.
ASHLEY
It’s happened again—I can’t believe it, but I suppose I should believe it.
K-REV
Go on.
ASHLEY
God just used you again to speak to me.
K-REV
This world will push you down--it will throw you down. But Jesus will
lift you up—He will draw you close to Him. He will send people into your
life to help you look up and see your help which only comes from the Lord.
ASHLEY
Well, God is certainly using you… I’m amazed.
K-REV
God is good, all the time. And all the time, God is good. Ashley, do you
attend a church right now?
ASHLEY
I can’t say that I do… No, not really.
K-REV
I encourage you to check out the K-REV website. There is a link there called
Church Locator. Please find a church near you. Go visit and meet the people:
They’re there to help you.
ASHLEY
Thank you…I’m looking now. I have to be honest with you—can I tell you the
rest of the story?
K-REV
Go on.
ASHLEY
My mom and dad got divorced last year. I didn’t think it bothered me, but then
I started not caring about anything. I started skipping school and I went from
being on the “B Honor Roll” to failing a bunch of classes. Then—about a month
ago, 3 of my best friends we driving way late at night and— (starts crying)
K-REV
Oh, Ashley… you knew the girls that were in the accident out on Highway 16?
ASHLEY
(sniffles, and stops crying) Yes, yes.
K-REV
We set up the Trust Fund for the families.
ASHLEY
I know…I know. Thank you. I’ve been so down and depressed I just couldn’t snap
out of it. I found a bottle of my mom’s pills, and I was-gonna-kill-myself.
Then someone drove by with your station playin’ loud, and that song was playin’.
I just couldn’t do it. I just couldn’t-- (starts crying)
K-REV
Ashley, can we play the song again, just for you?
ASHLEY
Yes.
K-REV
Okay, Ashley. This is for you—
"You Raise Me Up" by Selah
When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.
There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains—
ASHLEY
God bless you K-REV!

Psalm 121:1-3 (New Living Translation)
I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth!
He will not let you stumble;
the one who watches over you will not slumber.
Isaiah 61:1-3 (King James Version)
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD
hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind
up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of
the prison to them that are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of
vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them
beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the
garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees
of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
